Caesium in water – why does it do this?!

Below is a very interesting slow-mo video of caesium that has been cooled down substantially by liquid nitrogen being dropped in water. Whilst the reaction is quite beautiful it is not as violent as expected (see bottom video for usual reaction). The filmmakers and various blogs aren’t sure why. Do you know?
